"Oh my god, you suck so bad!" Lisa giggled loudly as she threw her cards onto the table revealing a straight. "I give up." Johnny laughed. Chris laughed and shook his head as he drank the last of his beer. He placed his hand on Chloe's thigh under the table. She looked over at him and smiled. "Time for movies." Chloe said. She scooted back and stood up. She layed down on the couch. Chris sat down next to her and she scooted up placing her head in his lap.
Johnny looked at Chloe and Chris. He realized what a mistake he had made when he slept with Chloe. He saw the sparks between them. He couldn't help but feel jealous of Chris, but he ignored the feeling. He sat down on the couch and Lisa curled up next to him. The movie Ghost started and they all got quiet. Chloe and Lisa were both asleep before the movie was even half over. Johnny and Chris laughed when they noticed.
"Dude." Johnny said. "We're cool." Was all Chris said as he picked up Chloe and carried her to their room. "Hey." Johnny said peaking into the bedroom. "I just want to apologize. You're great with Chloe. If she deserves anyone it would be you." Chris nodded. "I mean that. I'm a coward." Johnny said. "Goodnight."
Chris tucked Chloe into bed and layed next to her. In her sleep, she rolled over and put her arm around him. Chris sighed as he stared up at the ceiling.
Johnny made sure Lisa was comfortable in bed, then stepped out onto the balcony to smoke a joint. He shook his head as he lit it up.
"Hey, what are you up to?" Johnny looked around and spotted Adrian out on the balcony next door. He laughed. "Smoking." He said. "That looks a lot better then what I'm smoking." She said, and held up her cigarette. "It is." He said, and she laughed. "Do you want some?" He offered. "No thanks. I quit." She told him. "Yeah. Me too." Johnny said, and sighed. "Is Chris home? I haven't seen him in a while." "Yeah. He's alseep though." Johnny told her. "Oh, okay." She said. "Do you want me to go get him? He just layed down, he might still be awake." "No, thats okay. Don't worry about it." She told him. "How is Lisa? We haven't seen her around in a few days." "Good. She's been busy. She got a job singing in some play." Johnny said. "Some play?" "RENT." "RENT! That is not 'some play' Johnny!" Adrian scolded. He just rolled his eyes. "Anyway, I'm done smoking. If you are up, you can come over and hang out. I'm bored." Adrian told him. "Sure, why not." Johnny said. "I'll be over in a few minutes."
Chloe's hand shifted down to Chris' stomach. He laughed and moved it away quickly. Chloe turned onto her other side facing the wall. Chris turned toward her and put his arm on her arm. He kissed her shoulder and she turned to him with squinty eyes. They stared deep into eachother's eyes. Chloe smiled.
Johnny walked over to Adrian's apartment and knocked. She opened it right away with a big smile on her face. "Bet you wish I was Chris, hu?" He asked. She shrugged. "You know it's true." He laughed as he stepped into the apartment. "Hey, I'm just looking for a good time." She said. "Me too." He said. "You know the last time I hung out with a chick while high, bad bad things happened." "Yeah, well, I'm no angel myself." She said. Johnny just smiled. He wasn't sure if she was hitting on him or just joking around. "I'll grab us each a beer." She said. He watched her walk out of the room. He sighed and sat down on the couch.
"I know that smile." Chris said. "What smile?" Chloe asked. "The one that says you are thinking dirty thoughts." He said, and she laughed. "Maybe I am." She said. "I miss you." Chris said. "I'm right here." "You know what I mean." He told her. "I'm really sorry about what happened with Johnny." She said, and she could tell it stung him a little bit. "I mean it. If I could take it back I would. I wish it was you I had been with that night." She told him, and he smiled at her. "Me too." He said.
"So, Punk rock, hey?" Chris asked when she brought him a beer. He was looking around at all the posters on the walls. "Yeah, among other things." Adrian said, and sat down next to him. "So, you are the one that caused all the problems next door?" She asked, catching him off guard. "Excuse me?" He asked, and she giggled. "Sorry. I was just teasing you." "No, you got it right." They sat and talked for a while, finishing off two beers.
"Well, I better get back home." Johnny said. Adrian just nodded smiling. "You're a good guy, Johnny." She said. "I'm sure whatever you did, they'll sooner or later forgive you for it." "I know." He nodded. "Thanks." She shrugged. He laughed and stood up. He stretched his arms out and yawned. "See ya." He said. She just smiled and started clearing off the coffee table. "Night." She said. "Night." He sighed.
Chris laughed. "What?" Chloe asked. "I don't know." He said. "What?" She giggled. "You." He said. She turned toward him again. "What about me?" She asked. He just smiled and she turned back toward the wall. "I forgive you." He said softly. "What?" She asked. She shifted her whole body in his direction. She smiled and he smiled back. "Really?" She asked. "Well. . . yeah." He said looking down at his pillow.
Johnny made his way to his bedroom and layed down. He took his shoes off and threw them onto the floor. "Where were you?" Lisa asked. "Hey." Johnny whispered as he climbed underneath the covers. "Where were you?" Lisa asked. "Talkin' to Adrian." He said. "Just talking?" Lisa asked. "Yes. Just talking." He said. "Goodnight."
Chloe put her hand on Chris' bare stomach. "Why do we always let stupid things tear us away from eachother?" She whispered. "Because we're stupid." He smiled.
