It had been a long trip, and Johnny was glad to hand the wheel over to Chris. He stood in the small gas staion bathroom holding his pipe. He hadn't wanted a hit so bad in his life! He remembered yelling at Lisa for almost smoking and felt a little more then guilty. Not one of them knew he smoked a lot of pot, and he felt even more guilty.
"New start." He muttered to himself, then threw away the pipe in the garbage can. He tossed in his small bag of pot with it, and burried it under the paper towels. He looked in the mirror and felt proud of himself.

"I still don't see why Chloe or I can't drive." Lisa said, irritatedly.
"We're only a few hours away. Johnny drove a lot farther then he should have when we all fell asleep." Chris told her. "I really want to drive us into L.A. This is our last stop before the city."
"He's right Lisa. I know neither one of us wants to drive into the city. Hell, I don't want to drive in California after seeing some of the crazy people on the road. It's been nothing but insanity since we crossed the California border." Chloe said.
"I know. I'm just bored out of my mind, and I'm tired of being stuck in the car! My back hurts, my legs are cramped, and butt is sore. I want to smoke, and I need a shower." She whined.
"We all do. But we are almost there! When Johnny gets back, this it it! The final stretch." Chris said.

Johnny saw the three of them in the car, Chris behind the driver seat and Chloe in the front seat. He wished they could have stayed together. But since they didn't, he wished they would just go back to being friends. He climbed in the back seat with Lisa.
"This it. Is everyone ready?" He asked.
"Yeah." Everyone grumbled.
"I SAID IS EVERYONE READY!" He shouted. Chloe jumped, and Lisa glared at him.
"READY!" Chris shouted back.
"READY!" Chloe and Lisa screamed.
"That's more like it. Chris, hit the gas!" He said, and clapped Chris on the shoulder.

Two hours later they could see the L.A. sky line. Chloe was absolutely amazed.
"It's beautiful." She said.
"It's big." Lisa said, sounding a little scared. Johnny put his hand on her leg and she smiled at him.
It was big. So big, in fact, they didn't arrive at the apartments for another hour. Johnny was glad he hadn't listened to them and tried to 'wing' getting an appartment. Everyone else wanted to get a hotel room for a few days and look around. Even Chris, who was normaly more down to earth then that. So Johnny went ahead and searched through apartments online until he found one he knew they would all like.

Lisa and Chloe waited in the car. It was 8:00 so Chris and Johnny had gotten out to go get the key from the landlord. When they got back, a cranky fat man in his forties in tow, they were glad.

"Let me walk you around real quick." the fat man croaked as he unlocked the door. The apartment was nicer the Chloe had expected. A lot nicer. She looked over at Lisa, who had the same look of shock on her face. The landlord showed them around, having Chris write down any imperfections on a piece of paper. After about 10 minutes the fat man left, and they were free to unload.

Unloading took no time at all, since the only had a few things and no furniture. Just a couple air matresses and a few lamps, some blankets, clothes, and bathroom supplies where all their really was.
"We need to get some more stuff." Lisa said looking around.
"We will. Jobs first." Johnny said, Mr. Practical of the group.

They sat in a circle on the floor eating taco bell burritos for dinner.
"To new starts." Chris said, holding up his cup of Dr. Peper in a toast.
"To new starts!" The rest of his friends echoed.
It was going to be an adventure indeed.
