"This is so crazy." Johnny said.
"I know. We waited so long for this." Lisa said smiling.
"Oh my god, guess where I am?!" Chloe shouted.
They all looked at her confused, then realized she was on her cell phone.
"Of course I'm in L.A., buttmunch." Chloe said. She stood up. "I mean more specifically!"

Chris laughed and watched her run around the room.
"I'm standing in my apartment in L.A." Chloe said. She ran to the first bedroom. "Now guess where I am?"
"Someone's excited." Lisa laughed.
"Why does she have to be so god damn cute?" Chris asked.
"Oh my god, get over." Lisa said.
"YES, BUTTMUNCH!" They heard Chloe shout. "BUT, I'M NOW STANDING IN A BEDROOM, IN MY APARTMENT IN L.A."
They all laughed.
"I'm so glad she's happy. I was really starting to freak out." Chris said.
"What do you mean?" Johnny asked.
"I just mean, she was so unhappy most of the ride here. I was really worried she wasn't going to be happy here." Chris explained.

"Yeah whatever. She's fine." Lisa said. "I want a cigarette."
Chris got up and walked out to the balcony.
"There are lots of things we'd all like to have right now." Johnny told her.
"Nobody could possibly want anything as much as I want a cigarette right now. You have no idea how hard this is, Johnny." She said.
"Do you want to quit?" He asked her.
"Yeah." She said.
"Then you can do it." He told her.
She let out a big sigh and layed back onto the floor. "I know." She said.
"MOMMA!" Chloe shouted as she ran into the living room with a big smile on her face. "GUESS WHERE MY FEET ARE?!"

Johnny and Lisa looked at eachother and laughed.
"Well, duh!" Chloe said. "No. Momma. My feet are in MY living room in MY apartment in L.A."

Chris looked up into the sky. He then looked down at the novel sitting on his lap. It was the one he was most proud of. He smiled. He decided he would walk around the city first thing in the morning to see if he could find a place where he could possibly get it published. He heard Chloe scream and instantly jumped up to his feet. He turned toward the sliding glass door and was releived when he saw Chloe, still on the phone while screaming and jumping in circles. He laughed and went back inside.

Johnny was laying on the floor listening to his little radio.
"I guess there's a storm coming in." Johnny said. "There's a thunderstorm warning."

"Well, that freakin sucks ass." Lisa said. "I was gonna go look around the city for flyers for a open mic night or something."

Christina said...

"We just got here." Chris said.
"No better time to start." Lisa said. Just then there was a loud crash of thunder. Everyone jumped.
"That's right, isn't it monsoon season?" Chris asked Johnny.
"Yeah, I guess so." He said.

"My cell phone lost reception." Chloe said, walking out of her and Lisa's room. "There is a storm coming." Johnny told her. Just as he spoke it started pouring hard and there was another burst of thunder. The windows shook!
"Do you think the power will go out?" Chris asked.
"Maybe. We don't have any candles or anything though." Lisa said.
"Someone should go get some." Chloe said. They all looked at her.
"Not me! I hate the rain." Chloe said.
"I'll go. I love the rain." Lisa said, and stood up. "I'll go to." Chris said, not wanting to be left alone again with Chloe. The two grabbed their jakets and left.

"We've got to get jobs fast! We don't have anything." Johnny said to Chloe from the kitchen.
"We'll look for jobs tomorrow. Don't worry about it." Chloe told him. Johnny walked back out and sat next to her on the floor where a couch should be.
"You couldn't get a furnished apartment?" She asked, and Johnny shot her an annoyed look. She laughed.
"I'm kidding!" She said, giggling.

"I've got the flashlights." Chris said, walking up to Lisa in the candle section. She was still picking up candles, smelling them, then putting them back.
"Oh come on! Just get plain ones. We don't need the place smelling like five different things." He told her.
"I like scented candles." She said.
"These aren't even good ones! We are at a dollar store for crying out loud." He told her. She noted the edge of actual annoyence in his voice, so she sighed and picked up a pack of five various sized unscented candles and a few candle holders.
"Ready?" she asked.
"No. What do you say we get some soda's and a few snacks for the apartment?" Chris asked her. Lisa just shrugged and followed him.

"I hate storms." Chloe said.
"Why? Storms are awesome!" Johnny told her. He was sitting with his arm around her because she kept jumping at all the thunder. "Where are they anyway?" She asked.
"Are you kidding me?" Johnny asked.
"What?" She asked.
"Look at the ceiling over there! The roof is leaking!" He said.
"What?" She asked. Johnny jumped up and ran to his room. He came back out a minute later.
"We have nothing to catch the dripping water with." He said. She got up and helped them dig around their limited posessions. Sure enough, nothing.
"Who cares! We'll just call the landlord in the morning." Chloe whined, sitting back down on the floor.
"Fuck that! I'm going now!" Johnny said, and put on his jacket.
"Don't leave me here alone!" Chloe shouted.
"Fine, you come with me to wake up the Fat Man at 10:00 at night!" Johnny said.
"I'll stay here." She whined

"Why didn't we drive?" Lisa asked Chris for the third time.
"We're within walking distance. I didn't want to waste gas." Chris told her. They were running through the rain, trying not to drop their bags. They were almost to the apartment complex when Lisa slipped and fell in a big mud puddle.

"Come on." Johnny said, ringing the landlord's doorbell a fifth time. Ding Ding Ding Dong. Still no answer. Finally he could hear shuffling at the door, and then the locks being disengaged. "Finaly." He muttered. The fat landlord opened the door. Johnny knew at once he didn't wake him. The TV was on and he could hear an infomercial. He still didn't look happy though.

"OH my god!" Lis shouted, trying not to cry. She loved the rain, but this was rediculous! Now she was covered in mud. Chris helped her up and took the bags from her.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah. I'm just dirty." She said. He felt horrible.

"What is it now?" The Landlord asked.
"Our roof is leaking." Johnny told him, trying to ignore the nasty smell coming from the Fat Man's mouth.
"We can't call maintenance until morning." He said.
"What?" Johnny asked.
"It's not an emergancy." The guy croaked.
"What do you mean it's NOT an emergancy?" Johnny asked. After several minutes of arguing, he finaly left with a large bucket. He was furious! He was almost to the door when the power went out.

"Are you kidding me?" Chris asked when they were just entereing the complex. Couldn't they have made it back home before the power went out? Lisa was quiet, and he knew she was upset. He was just trying to hurry and get her inside.

The powere went out, and Chloe hid under the blanket she dug out from her room. She hate storms. Really hated them ever since she was little. All she could think about was axe murderers and monsters. That was what rain always brought, right?
"Too many scary movies." She said to herself. She always felt like a total idiot, but she couldn't help it. Even back home at her parents she would hide in her room with all the lights on and music blaring. "Hurry up Johnny she said.

Johnny was finaly at the door, and he was so mad, he just grabbed the door handle, and threw the door open.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Chloe let out a blood curdling scream.
"What, what is it?" Johnny shouted.
"Johnny?" She asked, crying.
"Yeah, what is it?" He asked.
"Oh my god! I thought you were coming to kill me!" She said.
"What?" He asked.
"Hey, what's going on in here?" I rough masculine voice asked.
Chloe and Johnny both looked at the door. There were two men standing there.
"Nothing. I thought he was a murderer." Chloe said. The guy that spoke had a flash light and shined it at her, then Johnny.
"Who are you guys?" Johnny asked.
"We live next door. I heard a scream, and in L.A. you never know what it could be about." The guy said.
"I'm Johnny. This is Chloe." Johnny told them.
"Tucker, and this is Alex." The guy with the flashlight said.
He was in great shape, and Chloe noticed right away. He had very short hair and looked like maybe he was in the military or something. Accept for all the tattoos he had on his arms. Alex, she noticed seemed dressed almost too nice. He was wearing gray slacks and a button down white shirt. "Cute." she thought.
"We just moved here tonight. It's been a rough hour." Johnny told them.
"Here, let me get Adrianne. We'll try to set you up in here." Tucker said. Just as they turned Chris was helping Lisa up the stairs. She had hurt her knee when she fell.

"Whoa, let me help there." A very muscular man told Chris. He was confused. Why were these guys at the apartment? Was everything okay?
"It's okay Chris. These are our neighbors." Johnny told them.
"What happened to Lisa?" Chloe shouted when they got her inside the apartment.
"Don't ask." She said, going imediatly to the bathroom. Chris took a candle in there and lit it for her. They heard the shower start.

The most beautiful woman Chris had ever seen walked into the apartment. She was tall, and slender with very pale blonde hair. She had her nose peirced and a tattoo of a sparrow just under her right collar bone. He couldn't help but stare. He had been helping Chloe set up candles while Tucker helped Johnny get the bucket situated under the leak. When he turned around, there she was, that Alex guy behind her. She was gorgeious.

Chloe saw Chris looking at Adrian and was instantly jealous. He had never looked at her that way. In such awe. She watched Adrian look up at him and smile and she could almost see his heart speed up. She was mad for a second, then realized she should be happy. Right?

Everything was finaly set up and cozy despite the storm outside. The three neighbors were in the apartment sharing stories. They were all only a few years apart. Tucker had been in the military, and already served 4 years. He was 22. Johnny kept laughing when he saw Lisa stare at him. He made a note to tease her about it later. Alex was 19, Tucker's little brother, and Adrian was a family friend of both. 20. After a few hours of talking, the three of them left for their apartment, leaving the four L.A. newcomers to themselves. It was late, and they were all tired, so they made a giant bed on the floor and went to sleep.
